Four months later, a regulator asks how a decision that moved money was reached. This journey is the reason several other views exist.

The trough, and what answers it

  • The worst moment is Verify: the KPI is re-run and returns a different number, because the underlying data has since been restated. The decision now looks wrong when it was right
  • The answer is that evidence is a snapshot taken at the moment of the answer, stored immutably and never re-derived. Re-running gives today's number, which is the wrong answer to "what did the approver see?" (views 30, 11)
  • "Which model version was it?" is why the model identifier and the prompt version are written into every decision record — and why tenants can pin a version (views 22, 24)

Decisions

  • The decision record is the system of record; the chat thread is a rendering of it. This is the single most consequential modelling choice in the platform
  • The identity that writes the audit trail cannot delete from it. Separate identity, storage-enforced immutability, 10-year retention with legal hold

Assumptions

  • Retention of 10 years assumed for public-sector tenants; confirm per contract, as it materially changes storage cost
  • The regulator is given a read-only view rather than an export by default. This is a policy assumption and should be tested with the first customer
