Flipkart Marketplace Platform · View 01 of 25 · 1 · Context and scope
Scope decisions
- The platform owns the transaction: catalog, discovery, checkout, payments, fulfilment orchestration and settlement
- Physical warehousing, robotics and the seller lending book sit outside — they consume platform events rather than living inside it
- ONDC is drawn as a peer network, not a channel: catalog goes out and orders come back, so it is bidirectional by contract
Scale taken as given
- 500M registered customers, 150M products, 1.4M sellers (Flipkart corporate site)
- 6M orders/day, 1.5B orders/year (Flipkart Commerce Cloud material)
- Sale events assumed at 10x the daily average concentrated into a few hours
Assumptions
- India-only data residency; both Azure regions are in-country
- Three card acquirers and eight logistics partners, so every external rail has a live alternative
- COD remains a first-class instrument, which forces a cash reconciliation path most designs omit
